When I love my neighbor as myself

In the past, when I heard that the anti-homosexual alliance is calling upon the public to protest on the streets again, I can’t help but secretly hope that it would rain heavily on the third of December, waking the crowd who blindly followed. However, God gave clear skies and good weather. There was close to 200,000 people in total who gathered in total at the Ketagalan Boulevard in front of the president’s office, the plaza in front of the Taichung Irrigation Association and on Shidai Boulevard in front of Kaohsiung Dream Mall. I believe that more than half of them are brothers and sisters in Christ and pastors. Moreover, most of them have been influenced by false rumors and threatening video clips, and are driven by fear.

Since 30th November 2013, I have been distressed. Are there so many Christians who did not read the Bible? How can the pastors go against what they have preached on the stage every Sunday service, and be lost and confused, not recognizing the ways of the Lord?

To all Christians who have fear of homosexuals or are against homosexuality, I would like to remind you about this: All things are created by God, exist because of Him and has a covenant in the New Testament. Hence all people, based on God’s will, through Jesus Christ, can be justified by faith. Since the priesthood system in the Old Testament has been changed, the laws must also be changed. Don’t use the law of “there is nothing that has ever made something whole” to judge and condemn someone else, as if nailing the Lord on the cross again and publicly shaming Him. The responsibility of writing laws and judgement belongs only to the God who is capable of saving and destroying humanity. We need to enter God’s rest. The day of the Lord is coming. During the end times, do not accumulate reassurances of the world. In the Old Testament, God only wants us to be humble and partner with him for the works of justice and compassion. In the New Testament, Lord Jesus only requires us to respect God and love people. To God the Father, true faith is taking care of those who are weaker, and not being in company of those who are doing evil. Do not only listen to God’s word but live out God’s word to love others as ourselves. This is because during the time of judgement, those who are not compassionate, will not receive compassion.

Hence, God did not stop them using the weather, but allowed the crowd to gather in the streets to show that besides the thieves who steal money or destroy lives, using false testimony to defame homosexuals, and the anti-homosexual alliance who is causing fear to the public, there are many pastors and Christians, who are like the priest and Levite in Jesus’ story who heartlessly pass by the person who was wounded, and throw a few stones at the same time.

Jesus’ brother James once warned “have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right. But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.” We know who said before “It is mine to avenge; I will repay” and “The Lord will judge his people”. Ending up in the hands of the eternal God is very scary. The end of all things is near. May everyone remember the Lord’s command – love our neighbors as ourselves.
